How to watch IPTV in a Tesla

By Lation, Model Y owner · Updated

Open gigaplay.app in the car's browser, tap Open, go to Settings → TV service and scan the code with your phone. On the phone, enter your IPTV provider's Xtream login or M3U link. Your live channels with the guide, movies and series then appear in the car and keep playing on the center screen after the car leaves Park, for passengers. Gigaplay is only the player: it doesn't sell or supply channels.

Set it up (about a minute)

  1. In the car, open the browser, go to gigaplay.app and tap Open.
  2. Open Settings, then TV service. The screen shows a QR code.
  3. Scan it with your phone. A page opens that says Connect your TV service.
  4. Enter the login from your provider: the server, username and password (Xtream), or the playlist link (M3U).
  5. The phone says the car has it. Live TV, Movies and Series appear in the car once the library loads, which can take a minute for a big lineup.

What you get

What Details
Live TV Every channel group, with what's on now and next from the guide
Movies and series Posters, seasons and episodes, resume where you stopped
Your lists Favorites and recently watched, kept in sync
Groups Hide the groups you never watch (Settings → TV service → Groups)
While driving Keeps playing after the car leaves Park

The library refreshes only when you tap Refresh, so Gigaplay doesn't keep hitting your provider.

Why most IPTV players stop in Drive

Tesla pauses its own video player, the one Theater and normal web pages use, as soon as the car shifts out of Park (why). Gigaplay decodes the stream itself and draws it, so the pause doesn't apply.

Questions

Is IPTV legal?

IPTV is just TV over the internet. Whether a service is legal depends on whether it has the rights to its channels, so use a legitimate provider. Gigaplay supplies no content.

Does it work with my provider's M3U?

Yes, M3U playlist links and Xtream Codes logins both work. Channels in H.264 play as they are; others are converted for the car.

Can the rear screen use it?

No. The rear screen doesn't have a web browser, so Gigaplay is for the center screen.

Tested in a 2022 Model Y in November 2026.
